Sunfly was originally formed in Oxford in 1972 by Eddie Carter and Johnny Hadfield after they met at college. Eddie had been singing in soul bands while Johnny had been playing in progressive rock outfit Diabolus. Soon expanding to a 4 piece band, Sunfly rapidly built a solid following in Oxford and London playing their own special brand of rock and blues. The mix of their own powerful songs together with often outrageous arrangements of numbers such as Eleanor Rigby and Season of the Witch whipped up audience enthusiasm wherever they went. That was then, but what is exciting is that, far from being a piece of history, Sunfly, with both founder members at the helm, is still hard at work writing new songs and performing their own blend of these and special arrangements of classic covers to this day – and winning new fans as they go with their energy and creativity.
